Production Operator

At this time, Superior Graphite is seeking a highly qualified Production Operator for the Hopkinsville, KY Complex.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows established procedures and practices to produce quality products for the company’s customers
  • Operates the forklift, bagger, palletizer, shrink wrap machine and other industrial equipment as required
  • Bags and palletizes product according to instructions for bag type and weight
  • Loads trucks, railroad cars, and containers with finished product some of which may require handling and hand stacking
  • Maintains and rebuilds furnaces for production runs
  • Assists in installing, removing, and maintaining equipment and buildings
  • Completes routine housekeeping tasks (sweeping, mopping, waxing, cleaning of show room facilities, emptying trash/scrap containers, painting and general clean up of plant site and grounds)
  • May handle raw material or product manually under break down conditions
  • Complies with policies published in the Employee Policy Manual and Employee Safety Manual as well as posted notices
  • Participates in scheduled training sessions such as required safety training and work related sessions as well as back-to-work safety meetings
  • May work independently as assigned or in a group setting and can be assigned to other jobs as required
  • Reports to Production Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience- Knowledge & Abilities:

  • High School Graduate or GED

  • One or more years of work experience in an industrial environment

  • Mechanical skills involving the use of basic tools

  • Basic mathematical skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual

  • Ability to work in a high temperature non-production line setting

  • Ability to work in multi-level building and at times confined spaces

  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting

  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule as assigned including nights and weekends including flexibility to provide job coverage for co-workers in addition to regular schedule

  • Ability to perform all duties in a safe and quality manner

Capable of lifting 50lb on a repeated basis

Capable of lifting 100lb on a periodic basis 


Work Environment:

This individual works in a multi-level industrial environment requiring work in high precarious places via ladders and steps inside and outside the plant in all types of weather conditions. This individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and some hazardous chemicals. The plant utilizes high levels of electricity and individuals have to be safety minded in all activities. The work environment is dusty.
